Hot Topic - RAW Hair Dye... What a waste of money...
After wanting to dye my hair a simple combination of Jet Black & Blonde Tips for a long while, I decided to take a trip to Hot Topic and purchase their hair dye. I bought a bottle of their store-brand "RAW Hair Color"in Jet Black. I went home and proceeded to dye my hair with no problems. After a while, I put bleach in I purchased elsewhere, and I had beautiful black hair with awesome-looking blonde tips! I was SO happy!
I went to bed later that night, and after waking up in the morning, took a shower. After that shower... I looked more horrifying then ever. Not only had all the black dye washed away, revealing my natural color, just dirtier and duller looking, it also turned ALL my new blonde tips... GREEN. Not even a cool, fun looking a green -- a NASTY, PUKE green. You would think that a company that charges BUTTLOADS of money for the simplest of products would be able to at least manufacture semi-decent products! But, of course, you'd be wrong.
RAW Hair Color lasts 4-6 weeks? Yeah, maybe if you plan on not washing your through all the time. What a friggin scam. Absolutely ridiculous. This made me so mad, I just HAD to find somewhere to write up a rant...

*** you just *** up it tells you in the bottle not to clean your hair for 2-3 days after dying and to use on freshly washed hair (even tho i find it does stick better to second day hair) Iโve been dying my hair with raw and manic panic for 8 years with no problems. Youโre trying to do a *** *** ugly look and you expect it to โlook goodโ *** outta here shut your dumb *** mouth bout rant bout bad product.
Thank you! Completely agree
Buy some color oops
I have used raw hair colors for yyears and it lasts me 5 weeks . You have to wash your hair at least 3 days after dying it .
Never g. In the pool and always use color safe shampoo and conditioner .
Obviously you have no experience of dyiing your hair correctly. Raw is known to many people for long lasting ou juat have to take care of your hair
Ma0- this is exactly what I was thinking. I have used only RAW in my hair and the results are always great. He/she was definitely dying their hair incorrectly because RAW would never just wash out right away and leave with a nasty color.
It depends on the color, condition of your hair, hair texture and other factors. I have used RAW for years with my daughter and some colors hold longer than others.
I generally leave it in longer than recommended. I have found purples tend to fade faster, reds and blues last longest. How often you wash and what you wash with also affect how long the color lasts. Clarifying shampoos remove color faster.
You need to chose hair care products carefully.
My daughter (medium blonde hair) has had color last several plus weeks.
This is semi permanent and it fades faster than permanent.
agreed
Imsirry but....its a demi permanent dye, it comes out every time u wash ur hair. If u wanted black u should have bought permanent black dye.
I am currently trying to get the bright red out of my daughters hair after 12 weeks in. She washes her hair everyday and sometimes twice a day.
We can't get it to come out period. That is one *** of a good hair dye.
Lemme guess you shampooed, and don't give me that " eww and you don't?" *** because you're not supposed to, that's how you remove the color. Don't diss the product- and a *** fine product at that- if your not even using using it right Ive had my pretty green goin on about a year now and it's hardly faded( my roots grew in like a *** tho) because I havnt shampooed it to access, all I need is conditioner and natural oils and some dry shampoo here and there
I don't mean to insult you its just that raw is one of the only dude I trust
Hah! Yes document this.
Such a great thing to do well your at why not go to yelp too hah what a joke. Pathetic.
Raw hair color works best when it is left in MUCH longer than the suggested 15 minutes. I leave it in for 2 hours and it stays bright and the color that i wanted for at least 3 months if not more.
sometimes peoples hair reacts differently to the different dyes or the different combinations. you have to TEST IT!
I have never had a bad experience using raw and I have been using it in excess for a full 6 years now. Dont jump to conclusions.
You are not supposed to wash your hair for at least 48 hours. If you would have check them out online first you could have found instructions on the RAW hair color.
That's what I did. I dyed it in June and its just now fading in the end of September. Also if you read up on it you are not supposed to use regular shampoo and conditioners. Since this is a natural chemical free dye you need to use shampoos without sulfates.
And you should only wash between 1-3 times per week. If you use tons of alcohol based products gels and hairsprays this also affects the color.
If helps if you do some online research first if you want the color to last. Of course you cannot shampoo the next day-you cannot do that with nice and easy either...sorry I am not trying to sound mean.It worked awesome for me.
I have sworn by Manic Panic for two years. I have the same routine with dyeing my roots and it never fails.
I went to hot topic today and they were out of manic panic so they referred RAW to me.
I followed the exact dyeing routine, and it didn't even take! Stained my skin, my bathtub and my clothes, but not my hair.
SAME. I used the neon red because i wanted to look like Gerard Way.
I bought it and took it home to my mom, who is a licensed cosmetologist, who dyed my hair with it. My mom washed it in the bathtub, turning my whole tub bright pink, and leaking through the gloves and staining her skin and mine. Not to mention, every shirt I have worn in the past two weeks (which is how long i've had it in for) has a pink collar. My pillows and couch are also pink.
My $70 band uniform is going to need bleached on the white parts now, thanks to this hair dye. I would not recommend it for anyone who wears expensive clothing.
I will definitely be writing a very worded letter to the company about my dissatisfaction with their products.
That is the a me hair color I u af I can not get it To stop bleeding on everything cloths shower pillions and its been a month now
You could always use the trick of mixing the hair dye with conditioner (White) it turns out better. Maybe it'll work better for you aswell. :)
dont listen to this. please, stop coloring your hair with conditioner it's not a good idea. It makes it patchy and doesn't help the color stick to your hair.
You should have used a permanent black color, if you know that color fades how did you not expect it to affect the blonde that you purposely did on the bottom? If it washes out a little bit on each dye you have to expect it to wash on your blonde. Really those dyes are good for brighter colors
I just yesterday bought two bottles of RAW hair dye from hot topic. It was $13 for each bottle (which isn't a buttload of money considering I paid $120 to have it professionally done and it washed out after 2 weeks) I've heard very positive things about this dye. Maybe you didn't dye it correctly or you just got a bad batch.
